Research

The project was inspired by NASA’s vast public database of space imagery and the growing interest in astronomy-related web applications. Research focused on:

  • NASA's APOD API and its capabilities.
  • User behavior when engaging with visual content.
  • Best practices in UI/UX design for interactive image-based applications.

Design

The UI was designed to be minimalistic yet visually striking, ensuring the space images remain the focal point. Design highlights include:

  • A dark-themed interface for an immersive space experience.
  • Responsive grid layout for optimal display on different devices.
  • Animated transitions for smooth navigation.

Development

Spacetagram was developed using modern web technologies:

  • Frontend: Next.js with React, Tailwind CSS for styling.
  • Backend & API: NASA APOD API for real-time image fetching.
  • State Management: React hooks and context API.
  • Deployment: Hosted on Vercel for fast performance.
